What’s the magic formula that makes our bikes so much fun? It’s no secret. Take the 990 Supermoto T. No other manufacturer comes even close to being as consequent as KTM. The extremely compact LC8 engine weighs only 58 kg, making it the lightest Twin in the 1,000 cc class. The stable chromium-molybdenum frame, weighing only 11 kg, is a real lightweight. The short, 1,510 mm wheelbase together with the radical 64.6° steering head angle guarantees an extremely sporty riding experience. The finely tuned WP chassis is as convincing on country roads as it is on the motorway.
In a word: The KTM 990 Supermoto T feels as light as a single cylinder and goes like the devil.
CHASSIS
FRONT END
The whole front end of the 990 SM T (with its eye catching windshield) is firmly attached to the frame, which increases the tracking stability at higher speeds. This attachment benefits the handling, less force applied to the handlebar means easier and more precise cornering. Installed as standard equipment, hand guards protect the rider during crashes, accidental contact and other unforeseeable occurrences on long journeys.
REAR END
The rear end is notable for its many practical features. The passenger’s handles are seamlessly attached to the baggage rack. Both exhaust pipes are equipped with a heat shield to protect the passenger and the baggage, the mountings for the side cases are attached to the heat shields and are standard equipment.
SEAT
On long journeys you’ll be especially grateful for the ergonomically optimised seat with its gel pad. Thanks to the comfortable position of the seat, your big trip for two won’t become torturous for the passenger either.
BRAKES
This bike has the brakes of a super sports bike. 305 mm brake discs slow the 990 SM T, each with ah radially mounted, 4 piston monobloc brake calliper from Brembo. A floating 2 piston rear brake calliper bites into the rear wheels 240 mm brake disc.
FORK
The 48 mm upside down fork isn’t just great looking, it’s completely adjustable for the riders personal needs. It always delivers accurate feedback from the road surface.
SHOCK ABSORBER
The robust WP Shock Absorber provides perfect feedback from every riding surface. With 180 mm of suspension travel, it offers plenty of reserves for treacherous terrain or maximum loading.
ENGINE
OVERVIEW
Like on the 990 Supermoto, the LC8 powerhouse weighs a mere 58 kg, yet produces 115 hp. The 999 cc displacement presses a full 97 nm against the asphalt at 7000 RPM. The electronic fuel injection system from Keihin ensures a precise throttle response. The engine is also equipped with an automatic cold starting system and an electronic idling control system. The oil level sight glass is easily visible so you can see the engines oil level at a glance.
EXHAUST
100% stainless steel exhaust system with double silencers and a regulated catalytic converter for effortless compliance with Euro III emission standards.
